What you will study
Term 1: Build the complete CG foundation
Develop a generalist understanding of the production pipeline through 3D fundamentals, digital sculpting, texturing and shading, compositing, matchmoving, animation fundamentals, character animation, dynamic effects and character rigging.
Term 2: Choose your specialisation
Move into advanced production techniques in one of three pathways:
- Character Animation: develop body mechanics and believable character movement.
- 3D Modeling: build detailed characters and production-ready assets.
- Visual Effects: advance through lighting, rendering, rigging and dynamic-effects workflows.
Term 3: Production and portfolio
Complete advanced specialisation work and refine a professional showreel. Animation students focus on acting performance and lip sync; VFX students collaborate on a short-film project; and modeling students create detailed characters, vehicles and robots. Core modules include self-management, advanced acting or modeling, lighting and rendering, scripting for VFX, and a final project.
Industry software and production workflows
Training uses tools central to modern animation and VFX pipelines, including Autodesk Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, Nuke, Substance Painter and Arnold. The emphasis is not simply on learning software buttons—it is on applying those tools to creative briefs, feedback cycles, production standards and finished portfolio work.
