What you will study
Term 1: Design and making foundations
Explore anatomy, concept design, engineering fundamentals, Fusion 360, 3D printing, casting and moulding, and painting with airbrush techniques. Students learn how research, form, function, materials and presentation guide a successful design.
Term 2: Specialised development
All students advance through ZBrush, 3D printing, casting and moulding, and form-and-function studies. Figurine designers develop high-fidelity digital sculpture and production anatomy; product designers use Fusion 360 and engineering methods to build practical prototypes. Both pathways move from digital form to SLA printing, silicone moulds and resin casting.
Term 3: Advanced projects
Refine prototypes through material testing, problem-solving and professional finishing. Students complete a final project and advance through lighting and rendering, painting and airbrush work, toy design or product design according to their focus.
From digital design to physical production
The curriculum connects software and workshop practice. Students learn how to research an idea, shape it digitally, prepare it for production, test materials, manufacture a prototype, apply post-processing and present the finished result.
